The galaxy is a huge place
« on: 21-01-17, 22:41:16 »
Hi there!

I've always wanted to play SWG, heck, I still remember writing an email to customer support asking if I could send the subscription cost by snail mail as I was only in 4th grade xD. It would seem that this mmorpg is practically a galactic sized sandbox, am I right?

Anyway, in your opinion, what class is best for experiencing the most out of the game? Its tough for me to come up with an answer as I've got an extreme tendency to horribly overthink everything. Thinking about making an entertainer who's also a pilot. Ground combat feels...blocky to me.
thanks guys

Yes, pilot. Definitely pilot. Starfighters are the greatest things since blue milk. ;)

I'm a total noob, too, who's only played around a bit on the TC, so take this for what it's worth. If you don't think that you'll be getting too much into the ground combat, being a Shipwright (Trader - Structures, I believe) might be a good way to go. Then you could make your own components for your ship.

Heh, what did they say?

Welcome aboard!

My opinion would be Entertainer if you enjoy the social aspect of the game, or Trader if you enjoy socialization but want to do something other than just buffs ;)

Shipwright if you're looking at Space Combat being a close secondary.

There's a social aspect to the game? Gee-whizz. What do most people do?

People sit around in camps, and it's fun! (sorry, in-joke for anyone who was around during the debates about whether we should have camps or not)

Socialisation is huge in SWG, google 'cantina crawl swg' and you'll see some examples of it still lurking around. Aside from just combat classes needing balance for big fights I think all the trader classes have at least one schematic needing a component from another class, and even where they don't you will want something another class makes (for example your shipwright/pilot will want a droid engineer to make his flight computer/R2).

Entertainers are at the heart of it as all classes can benefit from buffs provided in cantina's and the entertainers by and large love a good chat while you are there getting your buffs.

Entertainer might be a nice way to earn some much needed currency for your pilot endeavours! Trader can take a while to start off and may at first seem very unrewarding. It's not, however, it just takes a bit more time and patience.

Keep in mind as well that farming asteroid resources can generate some nice income too!
